FAQs

  • Does it matter where in the province I trade?
FAQs are a great way to help site visitors find quick answers to common questions about your business and create a better navigation experience. Our main governing piece of legislation, The Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, is a provincial statute. This means it applies to everyone who trades in real estate in Ontario. We are also governed by many federal statutes, such as CASL and FINTRAC, so practically any question you ask and any answer or advice I provide will apply to anyone in the province, regardless of where you trade.
  • What can I expect to get help with?
Questions and topics come in all shapes and sizes, including these: Offer review, clause/condition writing, Residential Tenancies Act, REBBA, MLS questions, objection handling, multiple offers, how to price a listing, compliance, processes, procedures, dealings with other registrants and with sellers/buyers, what disclosures are required and when, general consulting…..really, anything real estate related that you have a question about.
  • Why do you provide this service?
Throughout my time in real estate I have been providing counsel and advice to colleagues from many different brokerages. They call me because they know that, owing to all of my experience in the business and the many hats I have worn through the years, from me they will obtain factual, accurate, correct, ethical, trustworthy, helpful, and timely advice and responses. Upon analyzing the number of calls I was fielding and continue to field on a regular basis, it became apparent that there is a gap in the support real estate agents and brokers are getting and that I could help a lot more registrants succeed. To help fill that gap, I created AskMark Consulting and Mark’s Mentionables with a view to enabling my readers and listeners to get the advice and direction they need when they need it. This, in turn, will give them the confidence to handle any situation calmly and with aplomb. Interestingly, I receive as many calls from seasoned veterans as I do from new registrants or from those who are a few years in the business. This makes sense, since the more business you do, the more situations are likely to arise. I am happy to consult with you, no matter your level of experience, and am equipped to help you resolve your issue. I am passionate about increasing professionalism in the industry and ensuring the highest standards are upheld and maintained in any interaction, whether it be agent to agent, brokerage to brokerage, or agent/brokerage to the client or customer. Passing on knowledge and wisdom to registrants, who will in turn pass it on to other registrants, makes our industry, and all of us, stronger.
